Absolutely Beautiful.
Preface: After writing this blog, I re-read it. And I sound REALLY whiny. Please know, everything I say is meant in a light-heated way. And if you think I'm making fun of something... I am usually making fun of myself. I just, at times, lack the literary dexterity to do so properly. ENJOY.
Alright. I am going to be honest with you. London is really cool and having the opportunity to live here is wonderful and exciting. But there are definitely some things I miss about home. There are the standard things like friends and family, and of course I miss those. But, there are also silly, petty things that I used to take for granted that I miss. For Example
1. Kinkos! My kingdom for a kinkos! Never in my life have I had so much trouble getting basic office supply things. But at Kinkos everything you need is in one place AND you can copy things and bind them and whatever you like while you're there.
2. Bagels. Guys. Bagels are not a thing over here. There are no bagel shops where you can get your morning coffee and a poppy seed bagel lightly toasted with cream cheese and lox. (mmmmm....)

3. Big Gulps. Now this one is kind of shameful (on my part). I REALLY love diet dr. pepper. BUT I don't like it as much when it is in a can or a bottle. In fact, I HATE it out of bottle, and can only tolerate it from a can. A fountain style Diet Dr. Pepper is where it is at! However, 7 Elevens are a little thin on the ground here.
4. Football. American Football. I will now relate to you an encounter I had at the pub.
A man and his wife were inquiring if the pub was going to be playing the Football match (they were). I was curious to know who was playing because Nick likes "footy" and I don't mind it, and depending on the teams I might've been interested.
"Pardon me, sir. Who's playing?"
"England and Poland. Well, really Poland and England"
"Thank you."
"This is (exaggerated American Accent) soccer, by the way. As you Americans call it, not your football.
"Oh yes. I know." [laughs awkwardly]
"Football is the proper name since it has been around much before your football."
[more awkward laughing and agreeing]
At this point he went to sit down. Keep in mind, I never uttered the word soccer. I work very hard not to say that word.
All that to say, I miss being able to say "Go Giants!" And knowing that the people who are angry with me are Cowboys fans and that if someone agrees with me, I have made a new friend.

The last thing that I'll talk about missing is Pumpkin. No, really. The biggest pumpkins I have seen are what we call small in the states. I did carve a pumpkin, but it took quite a bit of dexterity.
I made a pumpkin pie this week. I had to buy a pumpkin and peel it and soften the fresh pumpkin because canned pumpkin is non-existent. You should have seen the look on the lady's face when I asked where the canned pumpkin was.

All this to say. Despite these VERY minor things, I am having a WONDERFUL time.
I had an "England Day" with a friend of mine, Helen. (She's English... So calling it an England day isn't dorky, right?) We saw "Matilda" and "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and went to Camden Town and Regent's Park and all over this city. A 12 hour day of exploring! We had breakfast at "The Breakfast Club" (Maybe not the MOST English name ever) which was delicious. She had an "American Breakfast" and I had an English breakfast ("The Full Monty"). All in all it was a great day.
I get to dance at Dance Works. I have been a guest actor for the Directors at East 15, done masterclasses with Suzy Catliff and Ginny Schiller, and will be doing even more cool stuff with my time here. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
